Legal Aid and Fees

Good & Stewart Ltd are proud members of the Legal Aid Scheme, administered by the Scottish Legal Aid Board.

Scottish Legal Aid is means tested, and has certain requirements as to who qualifies to receive legal aid. At Good & Stewart Ltd, we are able to evaluate your current financial situation and assess your eligibility for legal aid, taking account of your outgoings and income.

If you are eligible for Legal Aid, your defence will be funded by the Legal Aid Board. However, if you are not eligible for Legal Aid, we offer our services at competitive rates that take into account the complexity of your case, its duration, and your current financial situation.

Your first consultation is always free.

In order to help us assess your eligibility for Legal Aid, please bring the following documents and information to your first consultation:

  • Your national insurance number

  • Copies of bank statements, covering at least 4 weeks, for all bank accounts you hold in your name

  • Ensure that the bank statements show your income and outgoings, and if these are not seen on the bank statements, please bring proof of outgoings (rent, utilities, car payments) and income.

If you have any questions regarding Legal Aid please do not hestiate to get in touch.
